Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about reaction time testing and reflexly.io.

What is a good reaction time?

The average human reaction time is around 250 milliseconds (ms). Anything under 200ms is considered fast, and professional gamers often achieve times under 150ms. With regular practice on reflexly.io, you can significantly improve your reaction time.

How can I improve my reaction time?

Regular practice is key to improving reaction time. reflexly.io offers multiple training modes including Classic, Speed Round, Audio, and Boss Battles. Consistent daily practice, proper sleep, staying hydrated, and being physically active can all contribute to faster reflexes. Our combo and streak systems help you build consistency over time.

Is this reaction time test accurate?

Yes, reflexly.io uses high-precision timing with the browser's performance.now() API for millisecond accuracy. Your results may vary slightly based on your device, browser, display refresh rate, and input method (mouse vs keyboard vs touchscreen), but the test provides reliable measurements for tracking your progress over time.

What game modes are available?

reflexly.io offers multiple single-player game modes: Classic (standard reaction test), Speed Round (10 rapid-fire reactions), Audio (react to sound cues), Inhibition (react to green, ignore red — tests impulse control), Chaos (react amid visual distractions), and Zen (peaceful focus mode). Each mode trains a different cognitive skill.

What is the Arena multiplayer mode?

The Arena is an 8-player multiplayer mode with 7 different game types: Battle Royale (slowest eliminated each round), Hot Potato (pass the potato before it explodes), Streak Battle (longest sub-200ms streak wins), Sudden Death (3 lives each), Drunk Mode (chaotic visual effects), Patience Test (slowest wins), and Speed Race (first to 10 fast reactions). You need a free account to play.

Do I need an account to play?

No! You can play all single-player modes without an account. Your progress will be saved locally in your browser. Creating a free account lets you sync progress across devices, compete in multiplayer arena matches, and appear on leaderboards.

What are Boss Battles?

Boss Battles are special challenges that test specific skills. Each boss has unique requirements — some demand speed, others demand consistency or endurance. Bosses unlock as you level up and award bonus XP and achievements when defeated.

How does the XP and leveling system work?

Every reaction earns XP based on your speed and the game mode. Faster reactions earn more XP. The combo system multiplies your XP when you maintain a streak of fast reactions (up to 5x multiplier). As you level up, you unlock new themes, sound packs, and access to harder boss battles.

What are Daily Challenges?

Each day, a new challenge is generated with a specific goal (e.g., "React under 220ms" or "Complete 15 reactions"). Completing the daily challenge awards bonus XP. Challenges reset at midnight.

Why are my results different on different devices?

Several hardware factors affect measured reaction time: display latency (how quickly your screen updates), input lag (how quickly your mouse/keyboard registers a click), and browser rendering speed. For the most consistent results, always test on the same device with the same input method.

Can reaction time below 100ms be legitimate?

Reactions under 100ms are almost always anticipatory — meaning you clicked before actually processing the stimulus. reflexly.io flags these as false starts because true visual reaction time has a biological minimum of approximately 100-120ms due to neural processing constraints.

Is my data private?

Yes. Guest data is stored only in your browser's local storage. For registered users, your game data is stored securely and is only accessible by you. We don't sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
